I love looking at people's collections. I always think it's interesting to see what people collect and treasure. For the last several days, Camilla Engman has been posting some of her collections on her blog. She collects all sorts of interesting things - old distressed toys, marbles, birds' nests and more. Janine Vangool (of Uppercase Gallery) also has some amazing collections (my favorite is probably her Typewriter Ribbon Tin Collection - so cool!). Looking at photos of collected treasures always make me think about the (many) things that I collect too. One collection that I have and have been maintaining for years is my bottlecap collection. I've always thought bottlecaps were kinda interesting. They're little treasures of color and type -- and sometimes, illustration too! I recently acquired the bottlecap of the owl above off of a bottle of Red Rice Beer that I picked up at World Market. Since I'm always on the lookout for new caps, I tend to check out the soda and beer section at store from time to time. I hadn't seen the Red Rice Beer before and with a cap like this, I had to get a bottle!

I've always wanted to photograph my bottlecaps, too but I never got around to it until now. With a little inspiration from Camilla and Janine (and a little help from Mister Owl), I started shooting. I'm about half way through and hope to have them on my flickr page soon, set up as their own set. Stay tuned!

*Monday, March 3: I created a set on my flickr page - check it out!*
