looking back, looking forward

In light of the year that I've had, I've been doing a lot of thinking about the type of work and the amount of work I used to do compared to what I do now. Because of the demands of my job, for most of the year I really haven't had the energy to be very creative and focusing on anything felt near impossible. I currently have quite a few ideas rolling around in my head, but because I haven't created anything in so long, it's hard to get started. I scribbled down a few of these ideas and some of them I can see so clearly - those are the ones I'll start with first. A recent trip to Kaleidoscope here in Kansas City also re-ignited my desire to make things with boxes and paper mache and all sorts of found stuff. I made the robot below, Orbit, back in 1995 for Kaleidoscope. It was great to see Orbit again! Maybe some new robots or little masked figures are in my not-so-distant future. (I did the above piece in 2000.)
